The F/A-18 Hornet is flown by the US Navy, the US Marines, several foreign military forces and, of course, the United States Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. It began life as the YF-17 Cobra which lost an Air Force fly off against the F-16. Picked up by the Navy and Marines and refined into today's Super Hornet, her Cobra DNA is still visible in the unique planform and hooded leading edge extensions running near either side of the cockpit.
